FCA THRASHES NK VINODOL, SENDS MSK ZILINA HOME

Abuja qualified for semifinals by defeating NK Vinodol 7- 0 in the last round of the group stage and MSK Zilina 2 - 0 in the quarterfinals.

It was obvious from the beginning of the game that Abuja had the upper hand and the question was “how generous would they be with goals?” Although the first half was goalless after Abuja boys failed to convert several chances to goals, Yahaya Saleh was the first to register his name on the score board in the second half and then began the rain of goals. Ayodeji Bamidele scored a penalty awarded to Taiwo Gafar, followed by Taiwo Gafar (penalty), and Jonathan’s powerful goal, fired from outside the box. Izuchukwu Ani, not willing to be outdone by his mates, followed suit with two goals.

The quarterfinals saw Abuja boys at their best against a Slovakian team – MSK Zilina. Although Abuja boys squandered many of their chances, they booked a place at the semifinals with the goals from Uche Ezembakwu and Ayodeji Bamidele. Abuja and Dinamo Zagreb will fight to the finish on Saturday to decide the team that will progress to the finals.
